McFarland, WI 1 Jun 2010 – Culver’s® restaurant in McFarland is donating 10 percent of sales on Tuesday, June 1, to The Matt Splinter Memorial Softball Tournament during the annual system-wide “Day of Giving” fundraising event. Culver’s “Day of Giving” provides an opportunity to better understand the mission of charities, raise funds, and develop volunteer support.

Second Annual Matt Splinter Memorial Softball Tournament

Brandt Park located in McFarland, WI will be the host site for the Second Annual Matt Splinter Memorial Softball Tournament.  The dates of the tournament are June 1, 2, and 3  2007.

Matt Splinter was a young man who loved the game of softball.  He was well known and participated in leagues in McFarland, Monona, Madison, and Stoughton.  Matt lost his life in 2005, and to honor his legacy we have established this tournament.  This first tournament will be open to 16 Men’s teams and 8 Women’s teams.  Play will begin on Friday night for the Men’s teams and women’s teams will commence play on Saturday morning.  Entry fee is $150. per team and it is a double elimination tournament.  There will also be a Home Run Derby on Sunday which will allow those who would like to compete for a trophy and demonstrate their skills.

Food, fun, music, softball and more will welcome you to Brandt Park in McFarland (corner of Sigglekow and Terminal Roads, just west of Stoughton Rd.).  We might even have some cold beer to wet your whistle.  Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.

Please come and support a wonderful event in honor of a wonderful person.  With the blessing of the Splinter family, proceeds of this tournament will go to renovations of Brandt Park and to sustain future tournaments in the years ahead.
